Sikth – 13th Sept 2018 – Newcastle Think Tank

SikTh return to Newcastle Think Tank, they’ve played Newcastle quite regularly over the years and there’s a loyal following in tonight.

Local lads Starve to Survive offered up the perfect support slot fodder for a night of hardcore riffs, I managed to catch a very brief part of their early slot.

Up next were hotly tipped Liverpudlian act; Loathe. Along with Employed to Serve they stand as the most interesting and unique bands amongst a new generation of bands that embrace technical metal and hardcore. Proving to be the most exciting to happen to metal since Slipknot arrived almost 20 years ago and changed everything. They have a huge and massively diverse sound. Signed to SharpTone Records this lot are certainly ones to watch out for, they have everything right. The buzz about this band was enough to bring me down early for their set and for once the buzz is bang on! Utterly enthralling to watch.

It’s hard to believe that Sikth have been going for nearly 20 years. In fact the band is older than some audience members tonight! That said their new material is highly engaging and got some of the biggest crowd reactions of the night, certainly for me I found the music from their latest release The Future in Whose Eyes? to be some of their strongest to date. There is a good turnout tonight and crowd are in good voice, singing and shouting along word for word. Tonight Sikth proved to be just as vital as ever and are on top form.

The Aura
Golden Cufflinks
Cracks of Light
Riddles of Humanity
Pussyfoot
