British Sea Power – 6th May 2018 – Hit the North Festival @ Riverside

Better late than never. It’s been a rollercoaster week or two since this amazing show. This marks the 3rd time seeing and photoing them in 13 months. BSP gigs are always an uplifting experience. BSP should be allowed on the NHS I didn’t stop smiling for about 5 days after this one.

They whipped out the hits for this headlining appearance at the Riverside as part of Hit The North Festival. Check out the setlist!!

BRITISH SEA POWER – February 2018 – Glasgow Garage – REVIEW and PHOTOS

BRITISH SEA POWER – February 2018 – Glasgow Garage – REVIEW and PHOTOS

British Sea Power – 17th February 2018 – Glasgow Garage

Since there was no Newcastle spot on this tour I needed little encouagement to hit the road and go see them in one of my favourite cities!

Chatting to some fans beforehand it’s clear the adoration fans have for the band. We were trading stories about how many times we’d seen them and that unmistakable addiction to their music. 10 years ago I first saw them, Do You Like Rock Music was just about to be released. I was hooked from that gig onwards. I’ve since lost count of the gigs and merch! My name is Graeme and I am a BSP addict.

The band is shrouded in thick soup of smoke and light for most of the night. Making for some really cool but slightly tricky photos 🙂

The Garage is full to near capacity,  smiling faces and happy faces everywhere. The feel-good factor is on another level. It left me euphoric and ecstatic. Which is no easy task at present as I’m battling severe depression and anxiety. For one night I was able to escape. Indulge in the music. To me that’s the highest accolade for a band.  I did just that, pure escapism and joy.

Pictures say a thousand words. For me, this photo sums up perfectly the atmosphere of the gig. The amazing people of Glasgow coupled with the amazing music of British Sea Power.

It’s rare that you get permission to photo a full show but BSP allow it and encourage it! Of course, I took far too many photos. Here’s a lot of them 🙂 See if you can spot yourself in the polar bear shots towards the end of the gallery!

British Sea Power – April 2017 – Newcastle Riverside – FEATURE and PHOTO GALLERY

British Sea Power – April 2017 – Newcastle Riverside – FEATURE and PHOTO GALLERY

British Sea Power 8th April 2017 – Newcastle Riverside

I first saw British Sea Power perform at All Saints Church on the quayside back in 2007. That was my first exposure to the band and I was hooked from day one. To this date that remains in my top 10 gigs. Since that day I’ve seen them more times than I can recall, this must be about the tenth time. I’ve also accumulated a ton of BSP merch and tea cups!

Remarkably this is the first time I’ve photoed them. They returned to Newcastle to promote their new album ‘Let The Dancers Inherit the Party’. Another gem in the BSP back catalogue. Once you get BSP there’s no turning back. I noticed a few familiar faces from previous BSP shows. They seem to attract a avidly dedicated following. I was very impressed to see a girl at the front singing all the songs, word for word, including the new material!

This time they play my beloved Riverside to a sold out audience. In fact that’s the first sell out I’ve seen in Newcastle since I’ve been following them. They deliver the goods with a mix of old BSP and a fair chunk of the new LP. Waving Flags gained a massive reaction from the crowd.

Dancing bears made a return and space suits made a fun appearance. Great show from one of the greatest bands of all time.
