Arcite – 16th May 2018 – Newcastle O2 Academy – The final gig

By Gordon Armstrong (G’s Gig Shots)

Two things;

  1. This is probably the biggest gallery I have posted on here but point 2 will kinda explain why…
  2. Apologies to the Arcite boys for the length of time in getting these done, this was for a couple of reasons the first being; at first look i thought I had taken a load of dogs**t pics as they were very very dark. The second reason was as I took further looks I started liking some of the images as although not the best crispest quality of photo I thought they started to resemble the feel of that last gig so I have made this gallery bigger than usual as it ended up I had more photos I liked than I thought I ever would have!!

Right ..on to the gig. Perceptions & The NX were absolutely perfect openers tonight Both bringing their own brutal style of metal to the party

I have watched Arcite for many years now both supporting and headlining, so it was a sad day when I read the announcement of this final gig.They rightly come ou t to a very receptive crowd of friends and fans alike and they absolutely tear it up on every song . Kev leaning out over the crowd with his trademark mic in hand Scott and Martin trading riffs and solos and Matthew and Brian pummelling out the drums and bass keeping the tunes going.

Tonight is about saying goodbye though and the guys are doing it in style and with massive smiles on their faces even though it must be an emotional task.

They tip their hats to past members and collaborators bringing on guests Gary and Carl who filled in on bass for Brian while ill and original guitarist Newton steps up too to play a song or two. Laura Henderson shares the vocal at one point with Kev. It’s all just a big metal leaving party atmosphere rounded off with the NX lads firing off unexpected confetti cannons during the last song from the side of the stage.

With the crowd all singing the refrain from The Escape Key well after it had finished it was over… literally!! The guys can be proud of what they released, played and achieved and I am sure they all have things they will be bringing to the city in various guises very soon

In the meantime though bang the CD on have a flick through these photos and hopefully they’ll remind of a great night…
