May seems busy at all the venues in Toon but there’s not much that has tickled my fancy this month. I pick a few that should prove cracking!
10,000 Russos and Girl Sweat – 6th May Northumberland Arms
Girl Sweat (Box Records) alone would be killer but 10,000 Russos are one you need to check out!! Added mintness in the shape of Snakes Don’t Belong in Alaska, who are now performing as a three piece.
Tombstone Crow, Dog Tired and Dirty King – Trillians 19th May 2016
Three of the riffyist bastards around come to Trillians to help us launch our very first DVD release!
Dog Tired are popping down from Scotland to show us their chops. We travelled up to their album launch in Edinburgh in April and my word Trillians is in for a shakin’! Their new album sounds absolutely huge.
That coupled with two of Newcastle’s best metal bands makes this one NOT TO BE MISSED!
Palehorse – 12th May Northumberland Arms
It’s Palehorse! Need I say more? OK here’s some more!
Samothrace – 7th May Northumberland Arms
Huge sounding band, fresh from Desertfest and gigs with Russian Circles where I’ve been hearing great feedback. This lot carve out a musical journey that has to be heard to be believed.
